Credits Due Where Credit's Due.

I have to give credit to all the moms out there who stay at home all day.
I have a 22 month old son, and am used to working full time. I have a partner who is away most of the time, and yes, life gets a little crazy with working full time, managing a household, and raising a toddler on my own.
I'm not kidding when I say life is a rat race. 5:45 am, the alarm goes off, and the clock starts ticking......
I run for the coffee pot, and just hope that the built in grinder that sounds like its going to take off from the counter doesn't wake up Gavin so that I can get in the shower before he wakes up.
If I'm lucky, I can get a 6 minute rinse off with a shampoo before he startes screaming from his crib.
From there it's the usual routine. A "allo diddies" (hello kitties) to our cats, a "deeeedh" (give me my toothbrush so I can suck on it) and "MAAAANAS!!!" (for I WANT A BANANA NOW!)
So breakfast is served, while trying to feed the whining "diddies" and trying to stop the throwing of food, and trying to dry my hair in the kitchen so I can supervise the porridge being flung against the walls, while trying to at least appear decent for when I arrive to work in the morning.
Meanwhile, I have totally forgotten about my coffee.....
Getting out the door, and to the sitters is a whole other story, but eventually, we make it.
Work is work, and it has its own story to tell...but I do get an hour lunch break. While some people call it a "break", I call it a great opportunity to go home, wash some dishes, clean the porridge off the walls, finish doing the makeup that I didn't get a chance to do in the morning, grab a coffee, and head back to work.
As you can imagine, at the end of the day, it's the same old story trying to coordinate, dinner, bath, bed etc.

Recently, I have taken a medical leave of absence from work.
While it has been semi-disruptive, I thought this would be a great opportunity to spend some time with my son at home. Especially since I spend hardly more than 2 hrs a day with him, and well, thats a gong show.
Don't get me wrong, but WHOA!
They say that the best part of a parents day is seeing the smile on their childrens faces when they wake up. I don't disagree with this, BUT, sometimes the second best part of the day is when they go to bed.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE getting up in the morning and knowing I can hang out with my little man. He is so sweet, and he makes me laugh, and I realize all the awesome things I was missing while working all the time. We get to hang out, have lunch, go to the park.....chase the "diddies"....TONS of fun...
But, I was not prepared for the INSANITY of an almost 2 year old!
"Mom, Mommy, Mamma, Mommy, Ma, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, MOOOOOOOM, MOOOOOMMMMMMY, Mom, Mama, mom, mom, mom, mom, Mom MOM.....mannas, juice, gross, eew, diddie HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!! Mom, mom, mom, mom, peas, mom, peas, peas, peas, no MANA, peas, no Mana, diddies, hot, hot, hot, hot, cold, peas, MANA, peas, mom, mom, mom, mom, moommmyyyyyyyyyyyyy........peas? mana? juice? binky?
And meanwhile......"NO!, No, don't do that, No! No! GAVIN! No! Time out...no, no, no, sit down, on your bum, NO! WHERES YOUR DIAPER?!!!!!!, No, stop, STOP! Time out....DID YOU JUST DO THAT? No, no, no, no. Wheres your diaper now?! Did you just pee on the floor!!!!!!!?????"
I'm sure our neighbors think I'm crazy, and they might actually be right.
This really should be a well paid job on its own!
I love my son. I love spending time with him, but honestly, I'M WIPED OUT!
7 PM comes, and I am done like dinner!!!!!!!

So....to all the Moms out there who do it day in and day out, I hand it to ya! Working life is hard, and staying at home is just as tough.
